Coming
from a family of bakers and chefs, it seemed natural for Paula Humphreys
to be interested in pursuing a career in cookery. Trained as a professional
chef in New Zealand, Paula enjoyed working at award-winning restaurants
and consulting for private vineyard restaurants around Christchurch.
Her avid interest in art also spurred her to work as a teacher aid
in art and photography. Combining these three passions, Paula embarked
upon a career as a food stylist, creating sensational food for photography.
When Paula moved to Singapore in 1999 with her husband David and
their children, she began teaching cooking classes to expatriates
and domestic helpers. After being approached by the New Zealand
High Commission to provide catering services for events and private
dinner parties, Paula set up a small business called KIWICHEF. The
high demand for cooking classes and catering has led to this publication
in an effort to educate domestic helpers on the fundamentals of
western style cookery and to provide safe, nutritious and delicious
food for their expatriate employers and families. |
